Starting Up
My first week of I Ho Chuan is now coming to an end. As wisely put by Sifu Brinker, starting is always harder than maintaining. During these first days of training, I've discovered how true that is. Starting habits and keeping myself motivated is infinitely more difficult than following a pattern without deviation. Even after just a week of this rigorous program, I have found that some requirements are easier than others, and rightly so, become easier and easier to do.
I have participated in many programs with and outside of school. Even with the differences between biathlon, track and field, cadet drill team, and many other activities, the same principles are invariably present. With commitment and passion comes good results. Undoubtedly, the same applies to Kung Fu. Throughout this I Ho Chuan year, I expect these two assets to be scarce at times. However, finding habits and maintaining them will be key to always being committing and passionate even during the tougher times.
